How to Pick The Best Hair Colour for Your Skin Tone
Once again for the people in the back row: You can wear whatever colour you like! Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't. Colouring our hair is just another way of making our outside better line up with our inside. And if your inside is bright yellow with neon green bits - then go for it!
But with that being said, there are colours that will be more and less flattering on you. If you choose a colour that compliments your skin tone, it will help minimise lines, redness, eye bags and all those other things we hate, meaning you'll look naturally fresher - YAY! And there's a colour palette for everyone - from the most natural hues of soft blonde and brunette, to the most vibrant vivids, and everything in between. Read on to discover which colours will work best for you...
Remember I said in Episode 2 that everyone’s skin tone is either warm or cool? Well, both fall into two categories: warm skin tones are autumn and summer, cool skin tones are winter and spring. Once you know which of these you fit in, it’s super easy to pick which hair colours will look most flattering and which to avoid.
So now you know… and you can pick a natural or even a vibrant colour to best suit your skin tone. But remember, this is just a guide – we are all different and have different ideas of how we want to take care of our hair.
The most important thing is finding which colour suits you best as an individual and fits your personality. Got a warm skin tone but you're desperate for blue or ash blonde hair – go for it! Just be aware it may not be quite as flattering and you may have to wear more or adjust the tones of your makeup to compensate for it.
If you’re still unsure or want more advice on which colours to pick or how your favourite will affect your skin tone, ask your colourist. We LOVE talking colour and would be more than happy to help you out!
Now you've picked the best colour for you, check out Episode 4 to find out the best ways to keep it fresh.
