Yes. I book up well in advance so I can’t take walk-ins. Even if you’d just like to have a chat about your hair, you’ll need to book a consultation to make sure we’ve got plenty of time to have a proper chat
-
I take all bookings via my online system (there’s a button at the top of this page). I don’t take any bookings via email, message or over the phone.
-
Depending on your availability/flexibility, I can usually fit in a consultation within a week or two, and a haircut within a month or so, colour appointments usually need 2-3 months notice (sometimes a bit more).
Occasionally I can fit you in for colour sooner, but I can’t guarantee it.
-
Yes. Lots of it and right outside. It’s not allocated, so you can park wherever there’s a free space.

The longevity of a colour can vary depending on the shade, your hair porosity and how well you take care of it.
All colours do fade, and lighter/pastel colours fade quicker. But with proper maintenance, vivid colours can last up to 12 weeks, sometimes more. Some have been know to last up to 6 months.
All the Manic Panic colours I use fade true to tone, which means the purples fade purple, the pinks fade pink etc. So while your colour may get lighter, you wont get any surprises (eg purple fading green) as it washes out.

A haircut takes roughly an hour
A balayage/highlights/full bleach appointment takes roughly 4.5 hours
A vivid colour appointment takes roughly 5-5.5 hours
Colour corrections can be anywhere from 5 hours plus

That’s really up to you.
I recommend leaving no longer than 10-12 weeks between haircuts, or 6-8 weeks if it’s a short haircut. My colours last really well so most of my regular colour clients rebook for 8-10 weeks.
But whether I see you every few months or once or twice a year for a treat, you’ll be treated just the same and I’ll create a look that grows out gracefully. I want your hair to look awesome from day 1 to day 101 (and beyond)!

Yes. We provide tea, coffee, squash, and mini chocolate bars (with vegan and GF options) but we don’t expect anyone to go without food during a long appointment. Feel free to bring or order in anything you need.
The only request we make is you don’t share it with the dogs.
-
Yes. Feel free to bring a friend, carer or emotional support person. Whether it’s for support or just to hang out with them for a few hours, a friend of yours is a friend of ours.
-
Ideally not. Especially for long colour appointments. Well behaved children are welcome in the studio for shorter appointments, providing prior notice and consent has been given.
If you need to bring young children that need supervising, they need an extra adult with them who can do this while you’re in the chair.
The products, chemicals and equipment used in the studio are both expensive and dangerous if not handled by a professional. Extra distractions make it incredibly difficult for me to do my job and for you to enjoy your appointment. The primary concern will be the health & safety and comfort of all humans and animals present.
-
Kinda yes and no. While we are dog-friendly, we always have one and sometimes two salon pups here. It’s more convenient for everyone if you don’t bring your dog to your hair appointment, but if you really need to please get in touch to arrange a ‘meet & greet’ beforehand to make sure everyone gets along and I can comfortably do your hair whilst your pup is here.

Trained assistance dogs are always welcome - please inform us ahead of time so we can take measures with our resident dogs if necessary

Yes. There’s a spare plug next to every station. The WiFi code is HappyHair.
If you need us to not chat to you while you concentrate on work then that’s cool with us.
Your time in the studio is your time - use it however you like.
-
Absolutely! I ask all new colour clients to book for a consultation first. This allows us to have a chat about the look you’re after, make a plan and diary duel in person to get that colour booked.
If you’d like to come in for a consultation before any other appointment, have a chat, familiarise yourself with the studio, or just make sure that I’m the stylist for you you’re always welcome - Just book a consultation via online booking
-
Yes. We have double front doors that can be opened for wider access, step-free access throughout and a good sized toilet with a fairly wide door. We don’t currently have any supports or grab rails in the toilet.
We are disability aware, mental health aware and trauma aware, and more than happy to help with any extra accommodations or assistance you may need - just ask.
-
Absolutely! The Art House is a queer-owned and poly-owned no judgement safe space.
-
All of the yes! As a neurodivergent-owned business, it kinda has to be.
We encourage everyone to be their authentic selves, so you can leave your mask at the door (if you’d like to).
We have a selection of fidget toys, stuffies and comfy spaces, and you’re more than welcome to bring your own.
-
Just let us know. We know even small adjustments can make the world of difference. Whether it’s covering the mirror, turning the radio down, moving around during your appointment or meeting you at your car, no request is too ‘weird’ - honest.
We pride ourselves on being as accommodating as possible and we aim to make you feel heard, but not fussed over.
-
No. If you need to get up and wander around while your colour is processing you’re more than welcome, if you need to use the toilet half way through that’s absolutely ok.
There is also no requirement to sit absolutely still for a long period while we work on your hair.

There are a maximum of two members of staff here at all times.
Usually there are one or two clients, very occasionally three.
Sometimes clients or friends drop by for a bit or clients bring a friend with them.
On a regular day, the chances are there will be a maximum of 4 people in the studio, it could be up to 6, but that’s rare.
The studio has plenty of room, so it will never feel too busy or too cramped. All of my clients are incredibly friendly and respectful of other’s needs so no one will make you feel uncomfortable. In fact, the chances are you’ll meet some cool people you have a lot in common with for a nice chat. If you don’t want to chat to the other clients that’s also fine. Basically, regardless of who or how many people are here, everyone will respect you and no one will judge you.
If you need more specific information on who will be where during your appointment, just drop me a message and I can give you more details.
Wednesdays are a designated quieter day - it’s just myself and one client at a time all day. If you’d prefer to have a more one-to-one appointment, or if I feel I need more focussed attention to give you the best possible experience, I’ll recommend you book on a Wednesday.
